Mary Clark graduated from Northern University College of Law in 1979. She worked as an associate and partner for the law firm of Sullivan, Smith, Hauser & Noonan, Ltd. for over ten years, where she practiced in various areas, including real estate, corporate law, and criminal defense. From 1996 through 2011, Mary Clark was an equity partner at one of the largest family law firms in the country. She was the managing partner for the satellite office in Lake County, Illinois. In January 2012, Mary Clark and Valerie Steiner opened Clark & Steiner, Ltd.

Mary Clark is a former president of the Lake County Bar Association, Association of Women Lawyers, and Jefferson Inn, American Inns of Court. Mary Clark has been selected by her peers as an Illinois Super Lawyer each year from 2006 through 2014. In November 2010, Mary Clark was selected as one of Illinois’ Leading Women Lawyers and was featured in an article in Leading Lawyers Magazine.
